The PGA Tour has declared a list of 48 tournaments that will be part of the 2021-22 seasons, showing new folds.
For the first time, the PGA Tour unites a European Tour event. The player field will divide between tour members, and participants will receive FedEx Cup points-the first points for a European Tour event. Similarly, European Tour participants will have the opportunity to participate in the off-site events of the PGA Tour’s Babasol Championship and Barracuda Championship. The field will be collecting points for the first time in the European Tour's Race to Dubai.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said: “Adding a strong sponsor to our strategic alliance in the form of the Genesis Scottish Open-approved by two tours-yes An important step in the global competition." "We are determined to keep developing and adapt, and through our ever-increasing partnership with the European Tour, to push global sports to the heights we all know."
As part of the cooperation between the Strategic Alliance and the two tours, the Irish Open will almost double the prize money for its annual European Tour event from 2022 to 6 million US dollars.
The latter is part of the PGA Tour’s overall commitment to promoting a wide range of European Tour events,” said Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour.
