From 9-12 January 2025
The PGA Tour golf event Sony Open in Hawaii is part of the FedEx Cup Series; it will start from 9-12 January 2025. Since 1965, the tournament was played as the Hawaiian Open at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Sony Open in Hawaii is a big charity golf competition in Hawaii. This will be the 26th year of Sony's title sponsorship in 2025. The PGA TOUR, Sony, and Friends of Hawaii Charities have declared in 2018 the extension of the Sony Open tournament until 2022. This makes Sony (one of two) the third long-term title sponsor of the tour. The 26-year-old Australian player Cameron Smith won the 2020 Sony Open tournament in Hawaii. Smith's jackpot prize was $1,188,000, which allowed him to earn more than $10 million on the PGA Tour.
Recently, Sony Group Corporation declared the extension of its sponsorship contract with the Friends of Hawaii Charity, the PGA Tour, and tournament organizers for the Sony Open in Hawaii for another four years, until 2026.
In addition, to support the efforts of Japanese professional and amateur golfers, Sony will launch a project called "Sony Open Challenge" starting in 2023. Kevin Na won the 2021 Sony Open golf title with prize money of $1,350,000.
