The European Tour and Kenya Open Golf Limited have jointly declared that Kenya Open new scheduled date; it will start from 12-15 November 2020 at Karen Country Club in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
Initially, the competition was scheduled to be held at the same venue from 12 to 15 March, but the competition was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley said at the time that they were studying the possibility of rescheduling events later in the season.
The Kenya Open Golf Limited said in a statement, the newly planned Magical Kenya Open is part of the revised 2020 schedule of the European Tour. All tours will follow the tour’s strict medical and health policies, which will be guided by the government of the country/region where the tour is located.
Since the 1970s the Kenya Open has been linked to the European Tour. Last year, we hosted the first designated complete European Tour Championship and we are pleased with the accomplishment. we hope to host another European Tour this season to maintain tour momentum said Kanyago.
Ben Cowan, the deputy chief international operating officer of the European Tour, said that they are very happy to maintain the proud tradition of the magical Kenya Open.
Approximately 144 players will compete for a prize of 1 million euros, including six amateur golfers selected by the Kenya Golf Union.
